Spread Your Luck

In March, luck seems to come in all kinds. Here in the mountains, a sudden thaw can lead to rockslides, and high water. But then sunshine! The maple sap is flowing, and bees are trying their luck on emerging snowdrops. As a beekeeper, that gives me courage.

At Kevbot Chocolate, we feel very lucky to bring you great chocolate! Truly. And we want to spread our luck to the people and places - and pollinators - that grow it.

It takes a little luck...

Cacao flowers are tiny – and can grow by the thousands on a mature tree. They are so tiny that an even tinier chocolate midge is its main pollinator. Only about 10% of the flowers on a tree are successfully pollinated before the flowers close, producing only 1 lb of cocoa beans per tree!

 ...to make a little luck.

We're bringing back beans from San Juan Chivite in Guatemala - a Q'eqchi' community that took control of its future after a devastating civil war, and bet its luck on chocolate. Your investment in transparently traded chocolate helps the producers of Chivite make even better luck for their future.

Here's to the pollinators! And here's to spreading the luck beyond you and me.

Yours Truly,
Kevin
