Spring really is here! More birds arrive daily from their winter digs, bees are buzzing all over the red maples, and folks are getting their gardens ready here in WV. We hope you all are getting into your spring rhythms, too.

April is National Poetry Month, so we decided to pair poetry with great chocolate in our offerings this time around. In fact, we feel our chocolate has plenty in common with poetry:

RHYTHM

Cacao production has its own rhythm. Believe it or not -- many Caribbean cacao farmers have started harvesting now, a full 5 or more months after flowering!

Synchronizing that rhythm with a sustainable livelihood for cacao farmers is what transparent trade is all about - bringing them a better price, reducing their market risk, and investing in a more equitable future.

REFLECTION

Chocolate is our "happy place!" Chocolate connects us with our deeper selves, no matter the time or place.

Great chocolate also reflects how it was produced. The beans in our bars this month are all USDA organic, and produced in mixed plots with timber species, fruit trees and staple food crops. And our bars are crafted from only three ingredients.

IMAGINATION

We think our bars, and our special boxes, are imaginative. But we are constantly impressed by what you do with our chocolate, too!

This month we're featuring a Caribbean Blend of three origins: PISA (Haiti), Oko Caribe (Dominican Republic), and Monte Grande (Guatemala), with notes of blueberry, caramel and vanilla. We think you'll love these bars.
